ADVISORY BOARD

Our Story

The Madina Center for Education and Policy, spearheaded by Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu, embodies a visionary commitment to education as the foundation of community development. Since its inception, the initiative has sought to bridge educational gaps, empower students, and enhance learning environments, despite facing challenges such as the early hurdles of the Sosu’s Scholarship Fund. Lessons learned from these experiences have shaped more effective strategies, ensuring sustainable educational equity for all.

The Scholarship Support initiative has been a transformative force, sponsoring 368 students, facilitating tertiary education completions, and providing life-changing opportunities for families across the constituency. Infrastructure projects, including the construction of a bridge at Baba Yara Primary School, boundary walls at UBH Basic School, and pavements at Danfa Cluster of Schools, have addressed critical needs, improving access, security, and school functionality.

Beyond infrastructure, the Madina Center for Education and Policy  has invested in teacher capacity-building programs, such as the one-day library management training organized with Rainbow Consults, equipping educators with skills to cultivate a reading culture. Special initiatives for exceptional students ensure that talent and brilliance are nurtured, while programs like the MP Awards for Human Rights Law students at UPSA promote academic excellence and professional development.

Efforts to enhance literacy and learning resources have led to the provision of mobile libraries to selected schools and the donation of 23,500 textbooks valued at GH¢1.4 million, benefiting over 40,000 pupils. Annual school visitations by Hon. Sosu have further strengthened engagement between educational institutions and the MP’s office, allowing direct responses to schools’ needs.

A flagship initiative, the Sosu’s Best Teachers Award, continues to motivate educators and students, reinforcing the critical role of education in community transformation. By expanding on these successes, scaling initiatives, and addressing emerging challenges, the Madina Center for Education and Policyremains committed to driving sustainable educational development, fostering equity, and making a lasting impact across the constituency.
